Chocolate chip cookies done right: Baked extra soft and with extra chocolate

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup shortening (butter flavored)

  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar

  • 3/4 cup dark brown sugar

  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

  • 2 eggs

  • 2 1/4 cup all-purpose flour

  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

  • 1 teaspoon salt

  • 2 cups chocolate chips (or chunks if you prefer)

Directions:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

  2. Combine flour, soda, & salt. Set aside.

  3. In a large bowl, cream together shortening, sugars, and vanilla. Add eggs, one at a time.

  4. Gradually add dry ingredients through sifting technique. Mix well.

    Fold in chocolate chips.

  5. Drop by teaspoons onto ungreased cookie sheet. Space approximately 2 inches apart.

  6. Bake for 8-10 minutes (8 minutes if you prefer soft cookies). Remove from cookie sheet immediately to cool (on cooling rack).

  7. OPTIONAL: If desired, sprinkle top of cookies with sea salt.
